The different type of Pitbulls
The pitbull breed, which is a loosely term to describe dogs with similar physical characteristics, over the past couple decades has really began to vary in size, shape and completely turn into different breeds. To what ones are still classified as “pitbulls” really depends on who you ask. The three most common types are the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier.Only the American Pitbull Terrier is recognized by the United Kennel Club.
How did we got the Bully Pitbull varied size?
The pitbull have began to vary a lot in size and build by the out-crossing to other breeds. The American Pitbull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier only weigh between 25-90 Lbs. We know have pitbull type dogs that are pushing the two hundred pound barrier. The pitbull was crossed with other dogs like the mastiff, bulldogs, There are many different size of pitbulls starting off with XXL Pitbulls weighing 150-200 Lbs followed by XL Pitbulls between 140-100 lbs. Standard Pitbulls should give the impression of great strength for it’s medium/ large size body with big blocky head. It’s size should not be considered obese with height in weight in proportion of the body frame. Females reaching heights 16-19” and males going 17-20” both measured at the withers. Pocket bullys are shorter and more compact than the standard. Males and Females vary under 17” and below at the withers. The extreme bully is classified by having more weight and body mass relative to size than rest of the bully family. Classics are the total opposite with a lighter body frame and less body mass giving it the more traditional pitbull look. ,

Color of pitbulls
The color of the pits have really started to vary, first off we will start off with the two most known pitbull colors, red nose &, blue nose. The red nose originated from Ireland and came to the U.S in the 1800’s from the Old Family Red Nose. While these dogs were bred for work and as being game dogs. The trademark red nose was a side effect of breeding and not the desired goal. The Blue nose origin is not as clear as the reds. While there is speculation that breeders started to promote the blue nose as a result of the reds popularity. The tri color pitbull is formed from a cross between two parents that possess the recessive color gene. There is also black, Chocolate, white, fawn, brindle, coco, sable Brindle, tan, Blue fawn, Cinnamon and more. The color of the pitbull really varies and isn’t an accurate way to describe the type of a pitbull. Many individuals tend to think Bluenose and Rednose is a blood line when in reality it’s just the color of their skin it’s a common misconception
The pitbull has really changed and formed new breeds over the past couple decades. I’m excited to see where the bully pitbull world will go. There is a wide variety and everyday over every breeding the unified breed drifts farther away. Through color, size, Temperament, and everything else in between the pitbull breed is changing becoming more diverse and accepted.
